Photo Touch Up

Take a picture of someone and fix the minor imperfections.

Picture 1
Step Find a picture that has some stuff wrong with it. Against my better judgement, I've decided to use this old pic of myself. First we are gonna fix the red eyes caused by the flash of the camera.

Picture 2
Step I zoomed in to get rid of the red. I used the Sponge Tool, set in Desaturate mode, at a 50% flow. Just brush over the eye a few times until it has no color left.

Picture 3
Step Now I just used the Paintbrush Tool to brush on some light green over my eyes. Make sure the green is on its own layer. Set that layer to Color Dodge, and use about a 30% opacity. You may need to adjust that for your picture.

Picture 4
Step Now it's time to get rid of that gross scab thing on my face. We are going to use to Healing Brush. I know a lot of people use the Clone Stamp for this type of thing, but I think that's just because some newer users don't know about the Healing Brush. Its right above the Clone Stamp, and works almost the same, except it will blur and blend for you. Anyway, select the Healing Brush, then Alt+Click on a clean part of the face. I used the upper cheek. This set a source point to brush from. Brush over the bad spot, and it will be matched with the source with a nice blend. Just brush over all the problem areas.

Picture 5
Step Now we can make my teeth a little bit brighter. Use the Dodge Tool, set in a Midtones range and about a 40% exposure. Just brush across the front of the teeth one time, and the get a lot whiter. That's all you need to do to take a gross looking picture to just a semi-gross looking picture. Seriously though, with techniques like this, you can do a lot to a portrait.
